23rd June 2008 Week 26

Hi,

LOST … one gazebo in the wilds of Warwickshire,   FOUND …. Two Hairy Bikers in the middle of Cheltenham!

What a weekend! We were at two shows in two separate counties and had a ‘hairy’ moment at both! The winds played havoc at the Snitterfield show and our newest distributor, Duncan Niblett, lost his    gazebo—what an introduction to his new patch! Whilst further south the winds also blew, we were fortunate enough to be housed in a rather more sturdy structure in Montpellier Gardens at the first ever   Cheltenham Food and Drink Festival. However on the Saturday morning the stand was invaded by two rather large, hairy chaps, who grab baskets of veg and had photos taken of them .. It felt like a  tornado had hit, but it was great fun! So camera phone to the ready I snapped proof of the moment!

In the boxes this week you will notice we have our very first new season potatoes from Nick Taylor of pork and spinach fame—how versatile! Planted in February, kept cosy under a fleece blanket for three months and harvested just this morning. They are loose skinned and the skin will just rub off. To store them, keep them in the dark and keep them cool.

Wimbledon Week starts, so we have strawberries in the fruit boxes, from Martin Soble at Carey Organics and from Haygrove, two local Herefordshire suppliers. So get whipping that cream and keep your fingers crossed for a British tennis champion !!

This week we say a fond farewell to Paul Kershaw. Paul was the local chap for the Stratford on Avon, Solihull and South Warwickshire . He has been with us for just under three years but has now moved to pastures new in sunny Stoke! Paul is hoping to continue to use his entrepreneurial skills and is looking for business opportunities nearer to his new home. As Paul leaves we wish him all the best and welcome to the fold Duncan Niblett, who will be the new man on the ground!
